From Breaker Panel to Phone: Automating the Kunai Games Signage

Moose Salloum, Principal Advisor|July 26, 2026|4 min read
TL;DR
  • The exterior sign was controlled from the breaker panel, which switched off the entire circuit.
  • NeuroDesk installed an Aqara relay so staff can control the sign separately from a phone.
  • Matter support lets the relay work with other compatible smart systems.
  • The existing sign stayed in place. We only changed how it is controlled.
  • Small automations can make everyday business tasks much easier.

Kunai Games already had a working exterior sign. The missing piece was easier control. Whenever the sign needed to be turned off, someone had to use the breaker panel, which switched off the entire circuit.

There was nothing wrong with how anyone was using it. That was simply how the system had been set up. Most businesses have no reason to think about adding phone control to existing electrical equipment until someone shows them it is possible.

Give the sign its own control

NeuroDesk installed an Aqara relay in the signage control path. The sign stayed where it was. Staff gained a simple on and off control from a phone without using the breaker panel.

The sign already worked, so we kept it and made it easier for the team to control.

The relay supports Matter, so it can work with other compatible smart systems later. In plain English, Kunai Games has room to add more automation without starting over.

NeuroDesk looks for everyday tasks that can be made easier with the equipment a business already has.

What changed at Kunai Games

  • The signage has its own control. Staff do not need the breaker panel for the normal on and off task.
  • The control is available from the phone. It can be used while standing outside and looking directly at the sign.
  • The existing sign was retained. The project improved how the equipment was controlled rather than replacing working signage.
  • The setup has room to grow. Matter support leaves more options open if the business adds other compatible automations later.

The kind of task businesses should not have to think about

Projects like this are part of what NeuroDesk does. We notice repetitive tasks that most teams have no reason to think about, then find a practical way to simplify them. In this case, the answer was a relay, phone control, and no need to replace the sign.

If your Windsor or Essex County business still relies on a breaker panel, disconnected switch, or repeated manual routine to control equipment, NeuroDesk can review the operation and design a safer, simpler control path around how the business actually works.

Connect the systems around your business and remove repetitive operating steps.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why use a relay instead of the breaker to control a sign?

The breaker switches the entire circuit. A properly selected relay gives the sign its own control, so staff can turn it on or off without affecting other equipment on that circuit.

What does a smart relay do?

A smart relay adds controlled switching to an existing electrical load. In this project, it gave the exterior signage its own phone control without replacing the sign itself.

Does the Aqara relay support Matter?

Yes. Matter helps compatible smart devices and platforms work together. That gives Kunai Games more options if it adds other automations later.

Can business signage also run on a schedule?

A relay based control can often be extended with opening, closing, sunset, or manual override automations. This field note covers the phone control that was actually installed at Kunai Games rather than claiming additional routines that were not part of this demonstration.

Can any exterior sign use the same relay?

No. The relay, enclosure, electrical load, wiring method, and local requirements must be reviewed for the specific installation. This article explains the business result, not a do it yourself wiring procedure.
